Life’s A Gas
LIFE’S A GAS
I could have loved you girl
Like a planet
I could have chained your heart
To a star
But it really doesn’t matter at all
But it really doesn’t matter at all
Life’s a gas. I hope it’s gonna last.
I could have built a house
On the ocean
I could placed your love
In the sky
I could have turned you
into a priestess
I could have burned
Your fate in the sand

Vibing in the dressing room at The Albert Hall in Nottingham. Later that evening during the T.Rex concert, Spud Murphy took the black and white photograph of Marc on stage with his guitar and amp that – etched in gold – became the basis for the iconic ‘Electric Warrior’ album cover that set the tone for the new Bolan boogie inside. Magic times.

Note The Sweet and their producer Mike Chapman – who went on to produce BP Fallon’s bass player Nigel Harrison in Blondie – in the lineup. The award-giving event took place in Munich on April 26th 1972. The next day BP, Marc and Mickey flew to Copenhagen:

Marc and Mickey and BP had just flown in from Munich via Frankfurt and are here arriving straight from Copenhagen airport at Rosenberg Studios to meet up with Tony Visconti and Steve Currie and Bill Legend and Mick O’Halloran who’d flown out from London earlier. Recording began almost immediately, bearing sonic gold easy action in tracks like ‘Chariot Choogle’ and ‘Buick Mackane’ and the electric version of ‘Sunken Rags’. More magic.
