Sleeve
notes for Brand New Boots And Panties by BP Fallon
Ian
Dury was the dogs bollocks and New Boots And Panties was the cats
pyjamas. Live At Lourdes that album
was originally going to be called, a Lazarus blast by King Crip [whod
been the singer with Kilburn And The High
Roads and then Ian Dury And The Kilburns].
Durex he called himself and he was a Flash Harry handsome bastard bathed
in humility and popping the bubbles
of pomposity, Mr. Love Pants and his lyrics as sharp as the creases
in Duke Ellingtons trousers, this Upminster
Minister with Polio Portfolio, Royal College of Art to rock n
roll collage of Tart, silver razor-blade earring and eye
make-up just so.
New
Boots And Panties... Good Lord, you could record this album again maybe
a quarter of a century after it
first came out in 1977, record it again with all manner of incredible
guest artists backed by Ians amazing
band The Blockheads. Fuck, yeah. A celebration of a classic piece of
work.
And
Ian, hed be well chuffed. "Result!" hed go, laughing,
the Pearly King chuckling from the Pearly Gates.
Yes, Ian. Result.
And
you could call it Brand New Boots And Panties.
