DEATH
DISCO DUBLIN XXXMAS A CRACKER!
SHANE MACGOWAN + BP FALLON + RONNIE DREW DRIVE 'EM CRAZY!
Shane shook 'em! Ronnie rocked 'em! BP boogalooed!
We're at the Death Disco Dublin XXXmas Party and The
Village stage is dressed in yuletide folly, a white Christmas
tree on one side of the decks and a white Christmas, um, shrub
on the other. Lights twinkle as The
Ramones gaze down at the DJ altar.
The High Priest BP Fallon is spinning, doing the foreplay
vibe. People pour into the venue, many from The Point
- where surprise guest Ronnie Drew joining Shane
MacGowan and The Pogues to sing The Irish Rover
in front of 8,000 fans brought a brilliant concert to it's
roof-raising conclusion. Normally, BP tops the bill, if there's
any such bollox at Death Disco; there isn't. Here,
he's only to happy to get the vibe going, like he's done on
gigs by Keith
Richards and U2
and Ronnie
Wood, like he does every week in New York at
DD NYC for bands no-one's heard of yet. By the time
King
Boogaloo plays Dead Disco by Metric,
the place is stuffed, the joint is jumpin', the dancefloor's
pumpin'.

DJ
into MC as BP Fallon trumpets "The Godfather Of
Irish Music, The Rock Of Ages!" and Ronnie Drew
in an immaculate suit that will suit him when he becomes President
Of Ireland, Death Disco XXXmas Party pin in his
lapel and all, Ronnie's appearance on stage behind
the decks is greeted by the multitude like something akin
to a holy experience but a rockin' one, as if Little
Richard is conducting the service with whoops and
hollers and cries of jubilation.
Even
Ronnie, who's been on stage for well over fifty years,
is taken aback at this wild reception. Hands aloft, he basks
in the warmth before announcing into the mic "I'm the oldest
Death Disco DJ ever!" as he whacks out Them roaring
through Please Don't Go and The Kinks punk metal
guitar cruncher You Really Got Me before telling us
he's going to play a song he recorded "with a friend of mine,
Rory Gallagher" and the gears go even higher as Ronnie
sings over his own voice alongside Rory's on their
Grape And Barley Rag. Mighty. Janis Joplin is
next for the Ronnie Drew duo treatment, his gravelly
voice just perfect with her battered blues smile through Kristofferson's
Me And Bobby McGee and now the room is joining in,
"Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose" It
could've been gank. It was brilliant.
Another masterstroke: Ronnie plays a track by his old
group The Dubliners, Whiskey In The Jar, and
everyone's singing along and then the crafty Mr Drew segues
it into Thin Lizzy's rocked-up Whiskey In The Jar
- Eric Bell's guitar intro, Lizzy's first-ever
hit, the song Phil
Lynott had learnt from The Dubliners. Magic.
The audience go nuts.
The crowd roars again as Ronnie Drew climaxes with
the rambunctious sound of The Irish Rover by The
Dubliners joined by their musical godchildren The Pogues
and once more Ronnie's deep dark voice sings over his
own on the record, duetting with Shane MacGowan's vocal
on the track and on cue Shane
MacGowan makes his grand showbiz entrance >>

DEATH
DISCO DUBLIN XXXMAS PARTY!
DJs SHANE MACGOWAN + BPF + RONNIE DREW!!!
Death
Disco is back on the craic! And the DJ lineup for the
DD Dublin XXXmas Party is the most unique yet in DD's
mad rise to fame, starring - for the sixth time on the DD
decks - our beloved Shane
MacGowan, a man as true as the music he spins. Death
Disco loves Shane and Shane loves Death
Disco.
And making his second appearance as a DD DJ, the revered
70 year old Ronnie Drew from The Dubliners -
the band whose "Ah, we'll do it our way" punk outlaw attitude
influenced everyone from Bono
and Phil
Lynott to Shane himself and The Pogues.
Ronnie's as real as they come and Ronnie rocks.
And so does his friend since 1967 BP Fallon who'll
DJ your sox off.
When just after midnight Shane
MacGowan takes the stage at The Village to
DJ, he and The Pogues will have raised the roof at
The Point and it'll be a day away from Shane's
birthday - suitably or otherwise, he shares his birthday with
the son of God. Happy Birthday... um, everybody!

DEATH
DISCO NEW YORK FREAKS OUT IN A MOONAGE DAYDREAM!
BP FALLON + ALAN McGEE + KATE MOSS SPIN 'EM UP!
The triumphant return of Alan
McGee DJing at DD NYC was capped by the appearance
of Kate Moss on her latest visit
to New York's hottest shakeout and makeout night. DD's
fave rock'n'roll girl Kate, when she wasn't cavorting
around the dancefloor with BP, she took up pole position
behind the decks with the dodgy duo of Fallon and Alan,
brave lass that she is.
Immediately on stashing her black cloak under the DJ desk, The Mossette grinned "I'm an alligator!" but BP
was already there, already cueing up her shot of Bowie's Moonage Daydream and then - after a quick
run-through on the knobs - Kate played What
Katie Did by The Libertines, all "Shoop shoo, shoop de lang a lang" backing vocals
like The Small Faces vibing.
Following a search for La Vie En Rose by Grace Jones, Miss Moss lined up Miss Jones' deep-throated prowl through Roxy Music's Love Is The Drug - only to have McGee leap in with The Who and I Can See For Miles. It was that kind of night, a sufficiency
of madness and much pre-full moon magic, a lot of laughter
and a bunch of smiles.
Other tracks to get a spin were KillCity [Higher On E], Franz Ferdinand [Take Me Out], Michael Jackson [Billie
Jean], Dylan [Subterranean
Homesick Blues], Client [Pornography], Keef/Stones
[BPF Gimme Shelter Fix], early Cure, Clash, Nirvana from the new box set, Jerry
Lee Lewis, The Others, The Kills from
their forthcoming March 2005 album No Wow
and Alan grooving us with double-dynamite Al Green:
Let's Stay Together and Love And Happiness. Yes
sir.

CANADA:
FUCKING FANTASTIC !!!
DEATH DISCO TORONTO + U2 INTO THE HEART FAN FEST!
Death
Disco's first-ever Canadian gig was a major WOW,
with DJs BP Fallon and Justine D creating one
hell of an uplifting party at Toronto's Hard Rock
Cafe. Taking place under the umbrella of the U2
fan fest InTO
The Heart, DD's north of the border debut threw
up one specific challenge. "We could have taken the easy
route and played U2 records all night" notes BP,
"and everyone would've loved it. But we wanted to do
it our Death Disco way. And we did"
And everybody loved it. Watched by Jimi Hendix's guitar
in a glass case, the dancers rocked to The
Stooges, The Kills, KillCity, Le Tigre, Beatles,
Fur Cups For Teeth, Gossip, Sonic Youth and Bring Da
7 Nation Noise - the startling mashup of White Stripes
and Public Enemy. Justine D's favourite U2 track
I Will Follow caused the dancefloor to explode while
BP's U2 hit of the night was the Jacknife Lee
mix of Vertigo - never heard by the audience before,
who went bonkers. Death Disco Toronto: fucking great.
BP's live interview on Toronto radio station 102.1
The Edge - coincidentally,
the first radio station in Canada to play U2 - caused
rattling of curtains when our travelling DJ described his
DD turntable partner Justine D as "an amazing
DJ and one of the folk running this brilliant mad New York
party Motherfucker".
Gasps of breath. Then Dave Bookman asks BP what
his favourite tracks are and BP says "And there's this
Canadian girl I really dig, Peaches.
Her album is brilliant, Motherfucker. Sorry, I didn't
mean to say that word. I meant to say Fatherfucker,
her album Fatherfucker is brilliant".
The
following afternoon BP's interview was still being discussed
on 102.1 The Edge. "Thank God we don't have the
FCC in Canada!" said the presenter, laughing.
InTO The Heart - with all proceeds going to Amnesty
International and local Aids hospice Casey
House - attracted U2 fans from the UK, Arizona,
California, Ohio, New York, Buffalo, Vancouver, Montreal,
Nova Scotia and Ottawa. BP - who DJed on U2's Zoo
TV tour - was interviewed live on stage by Mark Neveau
about all things rock'n'roll, responding with hilarity before
going on to discuss some of his portraits
of Bono.
Other attractions at InTO The Heart were the U2
tribute bands Elevation
- who at Toronto's Opera House performed the
Dublin Aug 28 1993 Zoo TV set - and October,
who played the Red Rocks set at The Bier Markt.
And rock band Third
Verse opened splendidly for Death Disco.
"BP Fallon arrived as our special guest" said ITH's
Sam B, "and he left as part of the InTO The
Heart family".
HAVE MERCI! InTO The Heart's Mark, Sam B, Michelle,
Brady, Craig, Kim and Kelly, plus Keith on sound
and José on lights at Death Disco Toronto

Fire - plus an additional shot from the recording of the

FOR THE WEEKEND!
In between the very happening Death Disco NYCs,
BP Fallon jets to the west of Ireland for the

with the man who moulded the early Stones, their catalystic
first manager Andrew Loog Oldham. ALO's rare
Stones film Charlie Is My Darling - shot in
Ireland in 1965 - is being screened at The Kerry
Film Festival and BPF will interview Oldham live
on stage with a Q&A from the audience.
"Andrew Oldham was younger than the Stones"
notes BP from New York. "He was an outrageous cat,
wore shades and makeup, informed the Stones in their
outlaw mindset, produced their records, didn't give a toss.
He locked Mick and Keith
into a room until they'd written their first song, discovered
Marianne
Faithfull, formed Immediate Records which had
The Small Faces and Peter Green's Fleetwood
Mac, went mad for a while. Perfect".

DEATH
DISCO NEW YORK GOES MEGA!
KATE MOSS, KINGS OF LEON, LENNY KAYE, FRENCHKISSING IN THE
USA!
DD
NYC has gone mega. Turing Machine and The Hold
Steady killed at DD's Frenchkiss Records
party, The Kings of Leon - the pride and joy of Tennessee
kickin' back from two sold out nights at New York's
Bowery Ballroom and aware of what's happening, baby
- they threw their after-party at Death Disco, Kate
Moss was spotted there shakin' a tailfeather on the dancefloor
with BP Fallon, and the great Lenny Kaye - guitarist
in The Patti Smith Group and compiler of the vital
sixties garage rock compilation Nuggets - Lenny
smiled beatifically while weaving about to the music and whispering
sage advice to Margot and Laura of DD
faves The Assault.
With Lisa G, Mojo and Spikey Phil rockin'
the decks upstairs, the basement was awash with melting psychedelic
colours on the ceiling and mysterious black and white Jean
Cocteau movies projected on the walls and onto The
Ramones backdrop, courtesy of our brilliant chums Marco
and Michael of Optical
Delusion Fantastic fantasmagorical visuals.
And in the established Death Disco style of expect
the unexpected, Fur
Cups For Teeth - all cutesy-pie dresses like nurses
on mescaline, plus a twinkling tiara - they opened with an
acapella version of their song Mystery
Train - not the Junior Parker/Elvis one - before
bursting into a sparkling smile-high electro set. The next
band announced by BP were Fuck Ups For Teeth - all
jeans and t shirts and a fringed top nothing like Roger
Daltrey at Woodstock - who cranked out a guitary
riff'n'roll set exploding with twangerama and grinnerama too,
with much shrieking - vocal and otherwise - and a bit of falling
over. FCFT/FUFT - for they are one, one but not the
same - they're such sports, crazy where it matters and gifted
young ladies too. DD digs 'em, a lot.
BP invites Kate
to rifle through his CD stash. "Cor, you've got everything
here, haven't you?" "We try". "Hey, play Gimme Shelter
- it's my favourite record!". She's waving the Let It Bleed
CD at him... more
please!
God
bless Johnny Ramone 1948 - 2004
Rest in Peace.

NEW
YORK'S A GOING GOING!!!
DD NYC VIBING!!!
Death
Disco New York is already developing its own vibey Lower
East Side scene, with bands hanging out there to see their
friends play and groove to the DD DJs.
The
Spicy Rizzaks
- all dark Dolls/Misfits humour - were the chosen band
to kick off DD NYC's Wednesdays at The Delancey,
the luxuriously-sideboarded singer Jon Bon Rizzak howling
through Baby Please Don't Go which turned into Shakin'
All Over while Eddie Van Rizzak twanged like a
mother.
The spunky Greenpoint three-piece Kickstart
had a rockin' thrust propelled particularly by manic drummer
Mary, all mad humour and bass drum.
The surrealist electro pop brain probes of Dynasty
Electric Duo - Jennifer Deveau [lead vox, bass
gtr, synth] and Seth Misterka [sax, gtr, vox, synth,
drum programming] - was a sexed-up amusement park ride brimming
with pure pop pleasure, twisted and hot. Think Suicide
meets The Carpenters. Tremendous.
Electric
Shadows - Cosmic Turk [vox, gtr], The Baron
Von Aaron [bass, organ, vox], Flash 'Em Psychedelic
Dolan [drums, vox, no shirt] - open with the guitar roar
of Pipeline Johnny Thunders
style and among their spikey originals slip in a snatch of
Knockin' On Heaven's Door for Johnny Ramone RIP
plus a burning nod to Peter Perret with Another
Girl, Another Planet.
And
The
Assault are a gas: three rockin' young chicks called
Laura Leontine and Margot Bianca and Julie
Pop, all trash flash giving it loads and having a laugh,
infectious, vulgar and tacky and pure and perfect. And fun.
DD NYC is fun. Upstairs, celebrated DJs like Leesaw
and her down-home reggae, Bryan Swirsky from Manitoba's
with his rockin' slices, Fitz the Kerry legend
and Mighty Robot man who had flown in from Berlin
they've been holding court with their vinyl. And downstairs
with the bands, where The
Ramones gaze out from the Death Disco backdrop
and Joly from Punkcast.com
films the whole shang a lang, there BP Fallon has been
spinning, MCing, getting the vibe going. The atmosphere is
great.

NEW
YORK'S A GO GO!!!
Death Disco kicked off weekly in New York on
Wednesday Sept 8. Each Wednesday at DD NYC two
bands will be featured - loosely, one electro and one rock'n'roll
- as well as the Death Disco DJs and guests.
Says BP: "It's going to be a similar vibe to Death
Disco in London, where you never know who you might
get to see live. This way we can showcase bands we like before
they become mega! Indeed, in London bands like The Libertines
and BRMC play at the club simply because they enjoy
it so much. And then we have our DD DJs too plus whoever
might fancy a spin." Among those who have already fancied
a spin DJing at Death Disco are Courtney
Love , Shane
MacGowan, Peaches, Carl
from The Libertines, Gavin
Friday, Mani
from Primal Scream/Stone Roses, Pelle
from The Hives, Butterscotch, Ronnie
Drew from The Dubliners and Lenny Kaye
from The Patti Smith Group. "And", adds BP,
"Alan
McGee will DJ with us whenever he's in town".
Punters who have shook it up at DD - where there are
no velvet ropes, no VIP areas, none of that bollocks - include
Kate
Moss, Anita
Pallenberg, Primal
Scream, Kevin
Shields from My Bloody Valentine and Jack
and Meg White - and even Green Day, Jim Corr
from The Corrs and ex Westlife man Brian
McFadden. "We don't care who you are" notes
BP. "If you wanna rock, you're welcome".
Situated
in The Lower East Side, the venue for DD NYC
is The Delancey - already one of the most happening
scenes in Manhattan.

Death
Disco blew minds on its latest rampage around Ireland,
as DJs BPF and Shane MacGowan touched down for
the White Stripes/New York Dolls/Peaches DD after-parties
in Dublin and Belfast.
First up was The Village in Dublin, where the packed
house that included punters like Green Day and sundry
Dolls greeted the appearance behind the decks of Mr
MacGowan like the third coming - even though it was the
fourth time Shane had DJed at DD, tonight spinning
everything from the hopeful darkness of Joy Division
to the reggae joy of The Skatalites to Cliff's
classic rock'n'roll clarion call Move It.
Shane's chum BP, he'd opened his set with the
kitsch lunacy of The Bogmen doing Rock Around The

Shane has spun at Death Disco Dublin twice before,
taking the live mic to sing along to songs like Elvis'
I Was The One, and once at DD

along enthusiastically to Val Doonican's Walk Tall!

was jumpin', vibey and hot, incorporating everything from
hip hop to rap to rock'n'roll. Simply great.

Acclaimed Dublin DJ Johnny Moy opened the show, followed
rapidly by a storming set by Dublin wild boys Humanzie.
Humanzie weren't the only full-on rock'n'roll band
in the house - The gig was grooved to by The Things,
Mainline and The Urges while other DD
punters were more, um, unusual: Jim Corr from The
Corrs and former Westlife man Brian McFadden!
Also making their DD debut were the brilliant Belfast
projection posse of Jorjo and Phil of TBC.
"TBC's visuals are mind-boogieing" says BPF. "Stupendous
stuff. Having Jaime and Leah and Johnny
- and me! - DJing plus The
White Widow and Humanzie AND the TBC
lights - what a groove".
DD THANKS Roy Marsh, Ben Dellow and Luke
Carr of Bud
Rising and Phil The Dude Man and his team at
Voodoo.
Additional thanks to Stefan G and Joly.

Making her Dublin debut will be Jaime's surreal creation

some rock'n'roll madness coming on!'

DEATH
DISCO DOES NEW YORK AGAIN - TWICE!
LIBERTINES USA DEBUT!
Death
Disco choogled through a stomping pair of NYC DDs,
the first of which saw Death Disco co-founders BP
Fallon and Alan
McGee re-united behind the decks - with Alan
giving the American premier to tracks from the brilliant new
unreleased Mick Jones-produced Libertines album,
Says BP: "McGee and me are rarely in the same
city at the same time these days - so with both of us in New
York we went for it." Accompanied to the DD show
by Allison and Jamie of The Kills, Alan
summed it up by saying "I got to play stuff from the amazing
new Libertines album and The White Widow was
mental and BP did his genius DJ thing - what more could
you want?"
More came with the Recall Records launch party at The
Tribeca Grand, with Death Disco joining Recall's
artists I Am X - the band formed by Chris Corner
from Sneaker Pimps - and Robots In Disguise.
I Am X had the punters deleriously jumpin' to music
that often echoed the best of Depeche Mode. And the
irreverent fun and frolics of Robots In Disguise -
two fiesty girls from London who BPF has dug
greatly since seeing them support Chicks On Speed -
put a grin on everyone's mush and a tingle in their trousers.
And BPF and Jaime
Coon twiddled their rock'n'roll knobs splendidly and
The White Widow's performance was her most mesmerising
since Death Disco Hollywood with Peaches.

PEACHES
JOINS DEATH DISCO IN HOLLYWOOD!!!
Peaches' stunning DJ set at Death Disco Hollywood
was the icing on the cake of the first-ever Death Disco/Deep
Goat tour of California. Clad in a Kill Me Tomorrow
t-shirt, a short plaid skirt, a pussy-pink Death Disco
badge and stockings and suspenders, Peaches
rocked like a fatherfucker, slicing in her CDs as her
fist shot into the air, as she played skillful air guitar,
as she screamed with delight. Peaches' two dancers
squeezed in behind the decks, frolicking and making out while
above them The White Widow's gyrations celebrated the
strangeness of beauty and the beauty of strangeness. Cameras
whirred, flashes exploded, Death Disco at Star Shoes
on Hollywood Boulevard with Peaches fucking
the pain away on the decks… the joint was completely off the
hook! Everyone just going mad, perfectly.
At one point, as she played Led
Zep's Rock'n'Roll, Peaches turned to
BP Fallon and said "Imagine singing like THAT!" Lady,
you sing as good as anyone. You made the best album of last
year and your live shows kick it mega and you DJ with a hard
on. Peaches: we salute you.
The amazing Hollywood DD was a hastily-organised additional
gig after the opening Death Disco California date at
Little Pedro's in Downtown LA proved such a
roaring success - Natalie Nichols in the LA Times
reported how "the music won over the hips and the hearts of
the mostly-young crowd, movin' and groovin'" and Brenda
Camberas of LA Opinion wrote "Leave your prejudices
and inhibitions at the door and be prepared to be united in
a gigantic wave of good vibes and good vibrations".
Other highlights of the DD/DG CA tour include the world
premier of the as-yet-unreleased brilliant track I Live
And Die For Rock'n'Roll by Ian
Dury and Adam Sky - Ian's never-heard-before anthemic
song and celebratory vocal melded to pumpimg Adamski - as
spun at Death Disco San Francisco during the elevating set
by guest DJ Butterscotch. It's a family affair: when she's
not spinning up a storm, Butterscotch goes by the name of
Janice Gaffney and manages Peaches. Butterscotch and
Janice: we salute you.

Moments to treasure: the LA Times photographer approaching
The White Widow and asking to take a picture of her
with DD DJ Jaime
Coon - and could she find Miss Coon for the
shot? And the unintentional furore caused by BP on
a radio interview with Berkeley's KLAX when he jovially
described himself as "a bald old cunt" live on the
air.
The Blood Arm - a mutant cross between The Fall
on downers and The Doors on speed, absolutely excellent
- played thrillingly at Death Discos Santa Barbara,
Oakland and San Francisco. The Kids -
all naïve and innocent and hurting, like Morrissey
without the age - bled beautifully at DD Oakland.
Alexis Rivera DJ and promoter extraordinaire made miracles
seem easy. "Nothing you can do that can't be done".
You're tremendous. Thank you. Alexis: we salute you.

Death Disco California: seven gigs in nine nights, including
the makeout chillouts of Deep Goats in LA and
'Frisco
a Sunday visit to Bishop Solomon
Burke's church in Downtown LA where BP
was announced to the congregation by King Solomon as
"an old friend of mine" and was asked to stand up
and take a bow
a memorable West Coast drive up to the
Bay Area, punctuated by wild rockin' at the Absinthe
Bar and artistic misbehaviour in San Luis Obispo
at The Madonna Inn
the filming of Velvet Rope
in San Francisco by Niko Sluzki... and catfish
and fries for BP somewhere off the highway
at
the wheel, Miss Jaime Coon, pilot and DJ and The
White Widow, magnificent. Jaime Coon and The
White Widow: we salute you.
And Death Disco co-founder and DJ BP Fallon?
The adventure continues. "I'm so lucky to be going around
the place playing music for people, people who are mad for
it" says BP. "The Death Disco/Deep Goat tour
of California… what a gas, such fun, meeting great
people, spinning rockin' tunes…" And Peaches DJing
at Death Disco Hollywood? BP grins. "That" he says,
"is jam on both sides of the bread".

DEATH
DISCO TO PLAY LA + FRISCO!
Death
Disco's first-ever California tour kicks off in
LA on Sat May 15! The much-anticipated DDLA
debut is followed the next night [Sun May 16] in LA
by the makeout music of Deep Goat, before the outlaw
posse of DJs and dancers, muscians and lunatics heads north
to the Bay Area for more rock'n'roll debauchery at
Death Disco gigs in Santa Barbara [Thurs May

Francisco [Fri May 21] which will also be graced by the
chiller vibes of Deep Goat [Sun May 23].
Joining DJ BP Fallon will be Jaime
Coon aka The White Widow - says Death Disco
co-founder Alan McGee: "When Jaime Coon DJs
at Death Disco and that wild dancing that she does,
it's like having a sexy young female Iggy
Pop DJing!" "This is going to be so fucking exciting
I can't wait!" says California promoter and DJ Alexis
Rivera. With six gigs in nine days, Jaime notes:
"I love being on the road. I'm happy to be here". "I'm happy
to be anywhere" says BP.

DEEP
GOAT CHEESE IN NEW YORK!
Sean
Lennon made a surprise DJ appearance at Deep Goat's
first gig at New York's new rock'n'roll hangout 6s
and 8s. Sean had attended both Deep Goat
shows at Manhattan niterie Bungalow
8 and had asked if he might join BP Fallon
and Jaime Coon
on the decks at their next outing. At Deep Goat's 6s
and 8s debut - before grabbing the mic and introducing
a startled BP to the audience in Lennonesque
hip hop vocal style - Sean played everything from Devo
and Talking Heads to Yoko Ono backed by The
Plastic Ono Band to James Brown, Prince
and Sly.
The evening merged into a ferocious Battle Of The Discs
between Fallon, Coon and Lennon with
- in rotation - each participant having to better their colleagues'
choice. The party ended at 4am with Jaime playing Roky
Erikson and I Walked With A Zombie, BP playing
Ella Fitzgerald and Every Time We Say Goodbye
and Sean - declared outright winner for unembarrassed
cheesiness - playing Gilbert O'Sullivan and Alone
Again, Naturally. Deep Goat: where anything can
happen.
Deep Goat appears at 6s and 8s every Tuesday
night. C U Next Tuesday!

DEATH
DISCO: IRELAND KNEELS AGAIN!
In veritable Iggy
Pop And The Stooges Search And Destroy style, Death
Disco DJs BP Fallon and Jaime Coon jetted
in from America to Ireland for a pair of explosive
gigs.
Up north, Derry Sandinos rocked LAMF and on
the west coast of Ireland Galway's Cuba was
another mega night magicked into memory. With magnificent
head-crunching sets by BPF and JC, the new star
of the Irish DDs was The White Widow.
Jaime,
taking her original background of modelling for painters and
sculptors and fusing it to the roaring energies of rock'n'roll,
she's unleashed an other-worldly creature, dancing strangely
strange but oddly normal. Or, as BP so sanguinely puts it:
"Jaime Coon and The White Widow - the girls with the
most balls in rock'n'roll". For Undertones singer Paul
McLoone - also recently returned from a triumphant series
of dates in America - Death Disco Derry was his first
DD experience. Completely enthralled, he enthused to BP and
Jaime "I didn't know you guys ware so crazy". Paul will be
joining Fallon and Coon on the DD DJ decks at the next available
opportunity.

DD
NYC#2: HUEY + THE WHITE WIDOW STRIKE!
The second New York Death Disco - to celebrate the
screening of Headrush in the New York Film Fleadh
- featured guest DJ Huey Morgan for the second time.
At Death Disco Galway Mr Morgan
The Sultan Of Cool had played a CBGBs-era punk
set. But at DD NYC#2 at Mission the Fun Lovin'
Criminal did his My Little Black Book set, opening
with Three Dog Night [Joy To The World] and
poppin' onwards with The Greg Kihn Band [Jeopardy],
Ian Dury + The Blockheads [Hit Me With
Your Rhythm Stick], Boomtown Rats [Up All Night],
Stones
[Undercover Of The Night], Def Leppard [Photograph],
Dr Hook [Sexy Eyes], the cheesy vibe of Andy
Gibb + The Bee Gees [I Wanna Be Your Everything],
the old school hip hop of Cool G Rap [Ill Street
Blues] and hitting the finishing line with Joan Jett
[I Love Rock'n'Roll].

As the steam rose from Huey's set and as BP's
full-on DJing steered us into the wee hours, Jaime Coon
- having done a pummeling DJ set, all Moe
Tucker T shirt and the VU in the mix - Jaime,
she apparitioned in front of the DJ stage and climbed up on
the speakers. The White Widow had arrived.
Headrush - written and directed by Shimmy Marcus
which features appearances by Huey Morgan, BP Fallon
+ Jaime Coon - was voted #1 film of the New
York Film Fleadh, beating the Colin Farrell movie
Intermission into second place.

DEATH
DISCO: NEW YORK SURRENDERS + RONNIE ROCKS!
In
true Death Disco style of expect the totally unexpected,
Ronnie Drew DJ made a surprise appearance at the very
first Death Disco in New York on Saint Patrick's
Night. Taking place at renowned Manhattan venue
The Knitting Factory and featuring DJs BP Fallon
+ Miss Jaime
Coon + Ronnie Drew from the legendary Dubliners
- the Irish group recognised by everyone from Shane
MacGowan to Bono
as a huge influence - was simply astonishing.
Sober of suit and manner, grey of hair and beard and grinning
a grin from here to China, his eyes twinkling he danced with
DJ Jaime Coon with gusto.
And in between shaking a tailfeather the admirable Mr Drew
kicked off on the decks with himself and Rory Gallagher
performing Barley And Grape Rag, followed by The
Dubliners and The Pogues united to sing The
Irish Rover. He played a tribute to Phil
Lynott with Thin Lizzy's Whiskey In the
Jar, then said "here's a song written by an Irishman
who used to be my neighbour... Jimmy Kennedy"
and span a scorching Red Sails In The Sunset by Dinah
Washington.
Another cut included by Ronnie was Sweet Thing by Van
Morrisson ["a friend and a man I admire"].
The great Ronnie Drew finished his set by noting "here's
a song written by Brendan Behan. This is a song I've
been associated with but this time it's not by me. The
Auld Triangle by Bob Dylan"
and the venue was quelled as this unreleased treasure from
the Basement Tapes flooded the room.
Said BP Fallon after he'd rocked the party into the
wee hours: "Saint Patrick came through. Jaime's set was
a blinder and Ronnie Drew - that's jam on both sides of the
bread, baby. Just brilliant".
Before he'd vanished back into the snowy night, Ronnie
Drew had addressed the New York audience with these parting
words about his friend since 1967, BP Fallon. "Watch
this man. He's going to take over your lives and you'll be
all the better for it".

Death Disco thanks Ronnie and his wife Deirdre.
Respect and gratitude.

DEEP
GOAT GOES DEEPER!!!
Deep
Goat sensationally debuted last Monday Feb 23 in New
York with DJs BP Fallon and Jaime
Coon. Playing at West Chelsea private club Bungalow
8 - the hippest club in Manhattan - this new event
from the creators of Death Disco had the audience at
Amy Sacco's venue absolutely enthralled.
All palm trees and jungle-print sofas, Bungalow 8 exudes
the chillout of a Tangiers lounge mixed with the style of
Frank Lopez' showroom office in Scarface plus
smooches of glamour echoing the old Beverly Hills Hotel and
50s Hollywood.
Among those who turned out to see BP and Jaime play were P
Diddy, Courtney
Love's latest co-writer Bernie Taupin, Gladiator
movie star Connie Nielsen and Sean Lennon.

BP FALLON'S WANG DANG WIPES
'EM OUT!!!
The planet rocks!
The latest series of BP Fallon's Wang Dang Doodle
on Ireland's TodayFM had the whole country hoppin',
with additional fans as far afield as Dallas, San
Francisco, Toronto and Paris and Castleblaney
emailing Fallon live into the Dublin studio
as they listened on the web.
Wang
Dang Top 3! The Bogmen Triumph!
The act who generated the most texts and email responses during
the three-hours-a-night two week stint are the uniquely appalling/uniquely
brilliant Paddy craicery that is The Bogmen [Rock
Around The Clock/Let's Twist Again/The Hucklebuck]. You
went Bogmen bonkers for them! Following this sudden
outbreak of Bogmanmania came the Teutonic brown acid
madness of Laibach [Sympathy For The Devil]
and King Tubby's absolutely gorgeous JA instrumental
Dub Fi Gwan which narrowly pipped the magnificent Terry
Farley remix of Primal Scream's Loaded.

Appeal
BP was deluged by text messages. One was from a 61
year old gentlemen who said "I remember you on television
in 1965". Some of the messages were along the lines of
"I've heard my father/mother/granny talking about you.
You may be an old fart but you play amazing music".
Many were requesting info 'bout Death Disco. BP's favourite
text - which of course he read out - was from someone on a
bus. "The driver is making us listen to you on the radio.
The music is DREADFUL".
