DEATH DISCO ROCKS USA!!!
Death Disco's first-ever American gig at Seattle's renowned Chop Suey venue the day after Christmas was a roaring success, with DJs BP Fallon and Jaime Coon plus Seattle spinners Libby Eon [The Rock Of Ages], Miss Margie [French 75] and Colby [Kiss My Ass] driving the delirious dancing audience into a foaming frenzy. A triumphant night of "getting the rock kids onto the dancefloor" as Seattle paper The Stranger reported.

Speaking from New York where he's setting up more Death Disco USA dates, Fallon says "Seattle's not a town that takes its music lightly - witness 'Louie Louie', Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain - so it's gratifying to be received so fantastically from the off. Mindblowing, really".

The Seattle date was immediately followed by three more Death Discos in Ireland, with the movie Headrush being screened to open the wild shows in Galway and Derry and the reclusive DJ Donal Dineen - known for generally avoiding the public spotlight - making a surprise appearance to join Fallon and Coon behind the decks at Whelans in Dublin.

"Donal's set was a pumpin' gas" says BP, all vibed. "He played an amazing version of Purple Haze by Johnny Jones And The King Casuals and a jumpin' Van Morrison mix by The Street Choir titled Workin'. Musically, Donal's recognised as being a beautifully chill cat but at DD DD rocked. Dancing with Mr D, indeed!"

DEATH DISCO OPENS IN AMERICA, NEW IRISH GIGS TOO!!!
SEE HEADRUSH AT DEATH DISCO!!!

BP Fallon and Jaime Coon at Joey Ramone Place NYC December 2003 Death Disco's first-ever US gig takes place at Seattle's famed Chop Suey club on Friday Dec 26 - the day after Christmas! Immediately after their West Coast of America opening, DJs BP Fallon and Jaime Coon jump into the Death Disco jet to whizz over to Ireland to rock it out at Derry Sandinos on Sunday Dec 28. The first DD shows of the New Year with BPF and Miss Coon will be at Galway Bar Cuba [Sat Jan 3] and Dublin Whelans [Sun Jan 4].

In a twist typical of DD's slogan 'The Freedom To Rock' - ie expect the unexpected - the drugs-gangsters-cops-and-love comedy caper Headrush will be exclusively screened at the gigs in Galway and Derry. Headrush - which stars Steven Berkoff as the psychotic coke dealer The Uncle, with BP as the naked drug-dealing guru Blowback and Jaime as his equally-naked girlfriend - was voted second best film after Colin Farrell's Intermission at the Galway Film Fleadh and closed Derry's Foyle Film Festival to huge critical acclaim. The movie is not yet on release in Irish cinemas.

Said Fallon from New York, where with Jaime Coon he's filming in the movie Only The Lonely, "I'm really chuffed we'll be showing Headrush. People want to see it and we're making it possible. It's a fucking hilarious movie and it rocks LAMF and as the film finishes we'll be whipping away the chairs and rocking straight into Death Disco". Cool or what?!

As well as Fallon and Coon, the Dublin Whelans gig will feature a secret surprise guest DJ.

John Lennon and BP Fallon on Top Of The Pops February1970BPF IN NEW JOHN LENNON DVD!

"God", says BP Fallon, laughing, "if my past continues to catch up with me at this speed, I'll be sixteen soon!" Our man's DVD-fest already includes appearing in Led Zeppelin's DVD. BPF in the new Led Zeppelin DVD!

BP Fallon + Jimmy Page from the Led Zeppelin DVDLed Zeppelin publicist BP Fallon + guitar god Jimmy Page eight miles high on Zeppelin's private plane Starship, USA 1973, from the best-selling new LZ 2-DVD set.

BPF worked with Led Zeppelin from 1972 on and off until the band ended in 1979 with the death of drummer John Bonham.

"Beep and Jimmy were very much alike" says Silverhead singer Michael Des Barres in the generally ghastly LZ biography Hammer Of The Gods.

"They were both visionary imps. And they were in love with what I was in love with in rock'n'roll, which was the atmosphere of it all. The only really important thing was the right earring, the right album cover, and looking right getting off the plane and climbing out of the limo. That, and being the stonedest person in the room. The vibe was everything. And it still is."

During one mad American tour vibemaster BP appointed himself Zeppelin's Entertainments Manager. "My job was to decide what went on after the concerts" says Fallon. "What went on? Ask Jimmy..."

BPF CUTS UP DB!!!
BP FALLON CUTS UP DAVID BOWIE

TodayFM Sunday Nov 23 2003 7pm - 9pm GMT and live on the net

To mark David Bowie's Reality Tour, BP tackles DB in William Burroughs style by chopping up Bowie's records and other people's too and sticking them back together again - sorta. As well as cameos by Marc Bolan, Marilyn Monroe and Kraftwerk, among the mad treats are our David singing Sorrow with The Beatles, China Girl with Iggy, All The Young Dudes with Mott The Hoople, The Man Who Sold The World with Nirvana and Lulu and The Jean Genie with an intro by The Sweet. Plus! The Small Faces pop up in Suffragette City and the BP Fix of Heroes/Helden with DB and Blondie imports the crazed Robert Fripp guitar solo from Eno's Baby's On Fire.

Is nothing sacred?

BP FALLON STONED - TWICE!!!
BP Fallon Gets Stoned! TodayFM Sun Sept 7 at 7pm and - by huge public demand - repeated on Thurs Sept 11 at midnight

To celebrate The Rolling Stones playing in Dublin at The Point on Sept 9 and 11, BP Fallon - who has DJed on solo tours by Keith Richards [USA 1993] and Ronnie Wood [Ireland and England 2001] - invaded TodayFM to play two hours of Stones records non-stop. The show was broadcast globally on the net. Included in the cut-up mix of rock'n'roll, blues, psychedelia, gospel, country and reggae were solo cuts by Keith, Mick and Ronnie. Says our enigmatic man behind the needle: "The trick is in the tracks". Among the treats up BP's arm was the BPF Fix of Marianne Faithfull and The Stones doing Sister Morphine together, plus Stones flashes too by Aretha, Gram Parsons, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Devo and Bowie.

HAVANA AFFAIR!!!
BPF + Huey get their decks out!!!

BP Fallon
was joined by Huey Morgan of The Fun Lovin' Criminals to DJ at the Headrush party in Galway. Immediately after the rousing World Premier of the Shimmy Marcus film at the Galway Film Festival in The Town Hall Theatre, cast and chums repaired to Cuba for the wild shindig - also open to the public - where BP got on the good foot with some sweet soul music: JB [Sex Machine], Betty Wright [Clean Up Woman], Lee Dorsey [Ride Your Pony], Rosko Gordon [Just A Little Bit], Etta James [Tell Mama] plus a bunch of steaming Atlantic grooves with Solomon, Aretha, Otis, Arthur Conley, Wilson Picket and Sam & Dave. Ooh mah soul!

BP Fallon as Blowback in Headrush Huey Morgan as The Yank in Headrush Pictured above: BP Fallon as Blowback + Huey Morgan as The Yank, from the movie Headrush

BP Fallon + Huey Morgan get their decks out in Galway!New Yorker Huey had been telling BP 'bout his pilgrimages as a schoolkid to the NYC punk mecca CBGBs, how it had changed his life. Behind the decks the tattooed love man Mr Morgan continued the yarn - through the records that turned him on to music, groundbreakers like The Ramones [I Wanna Be Sedated], T Rex [21st Century Boy], The MC5 [Kick Out The Jams], The Sex Pistols [New York] followed perfectly by the equally vitriolic retort to Rotten's rantings by Johnny Thunders [London Boys - directed at the 1978 Thunders sessions by Johnny's manager BP Fallon who cast Phil Lynott into the potion with Pistols Steve Jones and Paul Cook]. Grinning quietly to himself, Huey whacked on Motorhead [Ace Of Spades], Blondie [Rapture - the record that broke rap wide open] and NY poet Jim Carroll [People Who Died]. Live life - you won't have it when you're dead. To be on a roll and not to rock? A fucking splendid night on the west coast of Ireland by the shores of the Atlantic...

Both BP and Huey appear in Headrush. BP plays the weed and wisdom dispensing guru Blowback. Huey plays the psychotic coke-dealing cross-dresser The Yank, the high-heel-shoe-licking tantrum queen who gets upset when people get shot on his Amsterdam barge because it messes up the carpet.

Jaime Coon, who plays Blowback's girlfiend in Headrush, was seen at the Headrush party in a specially-prepared showing of outtakes from the film.

Says director Shimmy Marcus: "Because there's a brief flash of full-frontal nudity, if we'd used these shots of Jaime in the film there would've been certificate problems. Violence, drugs, people getting murdered - no problem! But it's a different story when it comes to the human body - ridiculous! These images of Jaime Coon are so beautiful we wanted people to have a chance to see them". The footage is titled Jaime Coon: Knives, Nipples And Paint

BP FALLON MOVIE STAR!!!

BP Fallon as Blowback in Headrush - click for more stills!BP Fallon appears in the new movie Headrush, playing the weed-and-wisdom drug-dealing sage Blowback. The film is written and directed by the award-winning Shimmy Marcus, who describes the drugs and gangsters comedy caper as "Trainspotting meets Withnail And I crossed with The Lavender Hill Mob". Also in Headrush are Steven Berkoff, Huey Morgan of The Fun Lovin' Criminals, Gavin Kelty, Wuzza Conlon, Laura Pyper and Tom Hickey. Completing the cast in a cameo as Blowback's girlfriend is New York supermodel Jaime Coon.

The last time BP appeared on the big screen was in 1966 as an extra in Antonioni's classic 'Swinging London' film Blow Up, which starred non-extras David Hemmings, Vanessa Redgrave and the first full-frontal nudity in an overground British film, courtesy of one Jane Birkin. BP appears in the Ricky Tick Club scene, grooving to The Yardbirds - featuring guitarists Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page - playing Stroll On. "Ten pounds a day to look stoned and listen to amazing rock'n'roll twanging" is how BP remembers it.

Tony James and Kevin Rowland at The GOAL BallThe Death Disco posse - starring DJs BP Fallon + Kevin Rowland + Tony James - got London jumping so much at The GOAL Ball For Iraqi Famine Relief that they've already been asked to play again at the charity event next year.

The enigmatic Mr Dexy's Midnight Runners himself Kevin Rowland got the ball rolling with the likes of Oddysey and Roxy Music's Virginia Plain before Tony James seized the decks with his amazing cut-up mixes that included the masterful and mesmerising White Storm - the explosive TJ/Penelope Pecher creation that wraps together Dolly Parton doing Jolene, The Doors, Wu Tang Clan and The White Stripes!

DEATH DISCO TAKES EUROPE BY STORM!!!

Death Disco's appearance at The Roskilde Festival in Denmark was a total triumph and the second-ever DD party in Europe - in Barcelona - was a complete sellout.

In one loud swoop DD knocked down the gates of Europe with their stirring 90-minute set at Roskilde, where on the final night 70,000 fans from all over the continent had gathered to go wild to the Nordic queen Björk and the kings of the Celts Fallon and Alan.

They had too much too dream last night - Fallon and Alan at RoskildeTaking the stage after Massive Attack, Alan McGee went straight for the jugular with New Order's Blue Monday and the audience - already mesmerised by Björk and chilled-out by Massive - went mad for it. Everyone knew Death Disco was in business, BP and McGee working the enormous stage like benign rock'n'roll-fuelled stormtroopers. And for as far as the eye could see, lit up in mad groups by the wandering lights, the audience was rocking like maniacs, dancing crazily and watching BP and Alan's grinning faces projected live ten stories high on each side of the stage.

For his opening noisebomb BP Fallon jumped on top of the DJ table and blasted Roskilde with the Joan Jett basher I Love Rock'n'Roll, whizzing the faders up and down and having the whole huge field singing along to Miss Jett and each other. What a rush! The Beep was off! He wacked 'em with Primals and Iggy, shredded 'em with Motorhead, dropped Abba's Dancing Queen in between T Rex and The Kinks, tore at their hearts with Nirvana, whizzed them to Mars and beyond with Led Zeppelin and then brought the rockin' party home to the glorious explosion of BRMC and Whatever Happened To Our Rock'n'Roll.

What a triumph! When Alan got in the cab to the airport the next day, the first thing the driver said was "Everyone's talking about you guys last night!"

Thermograph [above]: They had too much too dream last night - Fallon and Alan conquer Roskilde

BP Fallon disappeared to Christiania - where he was constantly spotted and congratulated by Roskilde Death Disco fans - before meeting up with Alan McGee in Spain. There at The Mond Club in beautiful Barcelona our Dynamic Duo got the sold-out crowd shakin' a tailfeather or two. Or three, or four... Another hot Death Disco night!

Fallon stayed in Barcelona to pay homage to The King Of Rock'n'Soul Solomon Burke. BP first saw Soloman in 1966 at The Marquee Club in London and they've kept in touch ever since - BP even visiting Bishop Burke at his church in LA. In Barcelona, Solomon Burke was brilliant as always, that deep soulful voice testifying with power and potency and bringing tears of joy to the eyes of an Irish DJ.

BP Fallon and Solomon BurkeSolomon Burke live in BarcelonaSolomon Burke live in Barcelona

After The Bishop, Miss Kitten's jumpin' electroclash gig was only a few mieows away from another rare BPF hero: Gaudi. The surreal architect's cathedral La Sagrada Familia was visited by fan Fallon, who says excitedly "Gaudi's phantasmagorical work, the shapes he uses, the material he chooses, is like Dali in it's freedom of imagination and expression - they've both been French-kissed by God".

Pictured above: "There will be peace in the valley some day": Solomon Burke lifts Barcelona even higher!

DEATH DISCO FOR EUROPE!!!
Next stop Barcelona!

Following Death Disco's triumphant appearance at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark last week the mighty duo of Fallon + Alan move up another gear and head for Barcelona on Fri July 4 where they play The Mond Club. "I DJed there a few years ago and it was mental" says Mr McGee, adding "This time with BP and me doing our first Death Disco in Spain I'm sure it'll be completely crazy". "Excellent!" says Mr Fallon.

Roskilde Festival logoDeath Disco is gearing up for its first-ever invasion of Europe. First target is Denmark's mega Roskilde Festival on Sun June 29, where DD DJs BP Fallon + Alan McGee will be playing to 70,000 happy lunatics. Sharing the Roskilde bill with Fallon + Alan are Björk, The Raveonettes, Asian Dub Foundation, The Datsuns, Wire, The Hellacopters, QOTSA and Blur. "Something tells me we're in for a mad one!" observes BP.

BP FALLON ON NOEL REDDING

Noel Redding was a real one, a lovely man and a tremendous friend. His life was celebrated in his adapted home of Clonakilty in West Cork by the townspeople who loved him so well, with emotional sessions in the De Barras pub where Noel played every Friday night for the last thirty years when not on the road. Noel's coffin was carried through the streets of Clonakilty before a very moving service at St James Church in Ardfield near Noel's house. The following morning seven cars escorted Noel's hearse from Clonakilty to the cremation in Dublin, with two police outriders leading the cortege the last twenty miles in a wonderful gesture of respect. As I said during my talk at St James Church, Noel's happily kicking back now and saying "Hey, this is how you play it, Jimi!"

DEATH DISCO ROCKS SCOTLAND AGAIN!!!

The mighty melange of Alan McGee and BP Fallon hit eleven on the vibometer on their latest DeathDisco rampage through Scotland. Our DJ duo of McGee & BP - supported by top Glaswegian spinner Tam Coyle - shook it up for the first time ever at DeathDiscoDundee#1 and DeathDiscoAberdeen#1, while the underpublicised DeathDiscoEdinburgh#2 threw up a solid hardcore audience.

BP FallonAlan & FallonAlan McGee

It all came to a head at DeathDiscoGlasgow#3. Upstairs at The Barfly, Tam Coyle did his rock'n'roll foreplay before Alan McGee hit the DeathDisco stage downstairs in the dungeon, driving the dancers wild with The Dandy Warhols, the Primals, My Bloody Valentine, The Smiths and Blur before the whole subterranean cellar erupted to Oasis doing Supersonic and McGee dancing around the decks, fist in air and smile on face. The place just went crazy, the frenzied DeathDiscoers reaching out for their hero. Mental, really. And fucking great.

BP Fallon followed Alan and the whole damn joint went even more bonkers as Fallon lashed out with BRMC, The Kinks, a special BPF mix of Them, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix and The Patti Smith Group all joined at the hip doing Gloria, plus The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The White Stripes. Alan McGee at this point was at the back of the club talking to The Coral and all he could see on the stage was BP surrounded by stage-invading dancers, BP punching the air in jubilation.

Alan joined Fallon and fans on stage for the finale.

There's something very special about a McGee and BP show, the way the energy level rises to the max, the way that everyone has a big fat smile on their face as the music massages, the way these two unique DJs joke and josh with each other as they do their magic with music. Everybody at the DeathDiscoGlasgow#3 party was taken by the spirit, jumping and shaking and grinning and laughing as Joy Division lifted with Love Will Tear Us Apart. What a way to go...

TONY JAMES RETURNS !!! DEATH DISCO WORLD PREMIER CONTINUES!!!
Tony James - mainman of Generation X and Sigue Sigue Sputnik - is giving the first-ever spins to the new music he's making with ex Clash man Mick Jones as he tours Ireland with DeathDisco. Tony - titled King Of The Bootleg DJs for his wild mash-up mixes - joins DeathDisco avatar BP Fallon to DJ at DeathDiscoGalway#2 at Cuba [March 27], DeathDiscoDublin#17 at Voodoo [March 28] and DeathDiscoLimerick#1 at Dolan's Warehouse [March 29].

Says BP Fallon: "I've been trying to get Tony James back to DJ since his brilliant set at DeathDiscoDublin#5 last summer - this man's mixes are mindblowing... and they rock like mothers!"

New York überbabe Jaime Coon flies in to DJ and shake a tailfeather with BPF and Tony James in Galway, Dublin and Limerick!

Says Tony James: "It's a mad mad mad mad digital world... from 70s punk rock to 21st century punk rock... every track reworked into the Matrix Dance Groove... it's much more exciting than just being a DJ... it's one of the most, most exciting things I've ever done. When I first started playing my bootleg mash-ups at DeathDiscoDublin last summer with BP Fallon, you could feel the joy - a palpable rush from the audience hearing songs they knew and loved and hitting the floor, dancing."

DEATH DISCO: WE TAKE YOU HIGHER!!!
DeathDisco has just done five dates in Ireland and Scotland, four of them brilliant and one of them... well, okay.

Jaime Coon at DeathDiscoBelfast#2DeathDiscoEdinburgh#1
was fun but it wasn't mental.
DeathDiscoGlasgow#2 with BP Fallon and Alan McGee was a crazed party at The Barfly to a raving sold-out crowd who - having already shaken their booty to Tam Coyle's DJ foreplay - invaded the stage to dance crazily around the decks, watched benignly by The Ramones in the DeathDisco backdrop. Such mad fun, everybody rockin'.

DeathDiscoGalway#1 at Cuba was uplifting and amazing. A dose of chicken pox put Alan McGee under house arrest in London by his doctor for all the Irish dates, and Shane MacGowan was prevented from DJing in Galway by snowstorms at London airport. Nonetheless, BPF and - hot in from New York again - Miss Jaime Coon were met by a rock'n'rollin', jumpin', moovin' an' a-groovin' Galway audience who loved it. Watch this space for DeathDiscoGalway#2!

DeathDiscoDublin#15 at Whelans opened with snazzy Jon Averill behind the decks, followed by a stompin' DJ set by all five of The Things. Coon and Fallon - who was hoisted up on the shoulders of The Things' Neil and Robbie during his set! - did their magnificent wham bam thank you ma'am thang, all twang and Jaime dancing all over the place in a blue beaded bikini. Another rockin' Dublin party.

DeathDiscoBelfast#2 was something else again! Jaime Coon ripped it up with an extraordinary rising-and-rising two-and-a-half-hour set before shakin' out the achin' in long legs and BP's ragged Moe Tucker T shirt. BP in his Joe King Carrasco T shirt got the sold-out audience slavering, before our mainman Shane MacGowan took the DJ reins. The audience, pushed up against the DJ decks, could hardly contain themselves. Shane fucking MacGowan! As at DeathDiscoDublin#11, Shane's unique choice of tracks lifted you and drew you in. Oh, it was all going so absolutely splendidly and the place was roaring and raving and Shane was just about to play Hank Williams singing I See The Light... when a misguided over-enthusiatic fan stage dived the DJ area and landed on the CD player, knocking out the sound. Oh dear. Still, it was a very special night, with Shane playing records from his heart and leading everyone in singing along to Val Doonegan. Crazy. DeathDisco loves Belfast and Belfast loves DeathDisco! Of course we'll be back!

STAY TUNED FOR DEATHDISCO DATES IN BERLIN + HAMBURG!!!

BP FALLON APPEARS IN HEADRUSH!!!
BP Fallon is to be in the forthcoming movie Headrush. Says award-winning director Shimmy Marcus of the drugs and gangsters comedy caper: "It's Trainspotting meets Withnail And I, crossed with The Lavendar Hill Mob." BP plays the guru Blowback, who deals a mix of sage advice and primo weed. Also in the film are Steven Berkoff, Huey Morgan of The Fun Lovin' Criminals, Jaime Coon, Gavin Kelty, MC Wuzza, John Kavanagh and Tom Hickey.

The last time Mr Fallon appeared on the big screen was in 1966 as a extra in Antonioni's classic 'Swinging Sixties' film Blow Up, which starred non-extras David Hemmings, Vanessa Redgrave and Jane Birkin.
