In a tradition that’s as old as the hills – well, this’ll be the 11th Anniversary – this Friday BP Fallon yet again brings Ireland and beyond into the New Year DJing his New Year’s Eve radio show, live on the web from the studios of TodayFM in Dublin.
You’ll be able to listen to Mr Fallon and his merry tunes live from Ireland anywhere on this planet, wherever you are or wherever you are maybe. Indeed, you don’t even have to know where you are. Just remember that we’re here on TodayFM
Kicking off at 9pm on New Year’s Eve and rocking into the New Year, BP Fallon’s Wang Dang Wipeout Into 2011 gives us the countdown to 2011 – Auld Lang Syne and all that, though it’ll doubtlessly again be played by Jimi Hendrix.
It’s that kind of music show: celebratory, a bit anarchic, lots of rock’n'roll and a few unreleased treasures, BP live in the TodayFM studio in Ireland reacting to txts and tweets and emails from across the globe. It’s your show too.
Says BP: “After doing this for over ten years, this live Wang Dang Doodle vibe into the next year has become something of an institution. I’m delighted I’m presenting it rather that in one”.

On the 30th anniversary of John Lennon’s murder, BP Fallon yesterday spoke live on the radio from New York to Paul McLoone at TodayFM in Dublin. In a very emotional and at times hilarious interview, BP talks about John and about Yoko and about Sean’s band The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger.

In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan snuck into John Lennon’s hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview. Here’s an amazing animation of that wonderful encounter with John’s wisdom and wit in full flow
“Nothing you can do that can’t be done”. Thank you, John. God Bless you x

BP Fallon writes:
Forty years ago I was blessed to find myself appearing on Top Of The Pops with John Lennon. Twice. Surreal and unreal and real. I never for one moment back then thought that ten years later John Lennon would be murdered. Why would or how could anyone imagine such sickening madness? And now thirty years since his death it still hurts, it still outrages.
Will the circle be unbroken? Yes. Instant calmer. Forty years after filming the TOTP stuff with John and Yoko, I find myself appearing in Sean Lennon’s new video with Charlotte Kemp Muhl for their band The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger.
What does this mean? I don’t know, not exactly. I think part of it signifies that I’m still here. I wish John was too.
With love,
BP

BP Fallon plays Charlie Chaplin in the new video by The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger – the band comprising Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl, who appear as Che Guevara and Joan Of Arc.
Also starring Adam Green as Oscar Wilde, Albert Hammond Jr as Mozart and Cat Pierce as Marylin Monroe, among the glittering cast of historical characters.
The song is ‘Schroedinger’s Cat’, from GHOASTT’s ‘Acoustic Sessions’ album on Sean’s Chimera Records. Video directed by Jordan Galland. Produced by Ryan Dearth. Director of photography Saul Metnick.
Sean Lennon told SPIN about the whirlwind shoot: “We only had three days to put this video together from costumes to casting, to location. We wound up being very lucky on all accounts. It was really just an excuse to hang out with all our friends… Seeing all of them dressed up as some of our favorite historical characters is something I’ll never forget. I think looking back on this video in 10 years will be really fun.”
