The Jimi Hendrix & Roy Head Experience

Posted by admin on Wednesday Jul 28, 2010 Under Magic, Music, Rock'n'Roll

Photography: Jimi Hendrix in Montagu Place, London 1967 by David Magnus

Roy Head: Treat Her Right (1965)

This cat is an amazing mover with his sub-James Brown leg wobbles – and somersaults off the stage, anyone? Fuck me.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience on ‘The Lulu Show’ (1969)

Jimi & Noel & Mitch and their majestic ‘Voodoo Chile’ and a beautifully wild intro to ‘Hey Joe’ before Jimi announces “We’d like to stop playing this rubbish” and launches into a spontaneous twang through Cream’s ‘Sunshine Of You Love’ – with the producers of the live tv show freaking out as the show is running over time. Priceless.

VU: I’m Waiting For The Man filmed by Andy Warhol

Posted by BP Fallon on Saturday Jul 10, 2010 Under Magic, Music, Rock'n'Roll

The Velvet Underground filmed by Andy Warhol and his cabal at The Factory (1966). Note Nico literally sitting in and her kid Ari by Alain Delon cute if bewildered on maracas. See Andy! See Gerard Malanga! Wonder what the fuck the policeman is doing there! Wonderful – even when it’s upside down x

“Peel slowly and see”
