Bob Gruen celebrated his birthday with BPF DJing and Bebe Buell performing songs from her new album ‘Sugar’ to an audience that included Ronnie Spector, Danny Fields and Lee Black Childers. The party for the celebrated rock’n'roll photographer was held at the New York home of Georgio Gomelsky, the more-than-fascinating original manager of both The Rolling Stones and The Yardbirds.
Bebe dedicated the song ‘Untouchable’ to its writer Johnny Thunders in a most moving performance that had many at the party – those who would’ve known Johnny, bless him – with tears in their eyes and memories in their hearts. Bebe, you’re a New York doll too.

Jack White does nothing by halves! Here’s the second video directed by Jack White for the powerful Dead Weather track ‘I Cut Like A Buffalo’.
Filmed entirely in black and white at Third Man Records in Nashville and consisting mostly of a long one-shot take, in the video the song is introduced enigmatically by BP Fallon.

Jack White – fresh from his magnetic movie appearance in ‘It Might Get Loud’ with Jimmy Page and The Edge – makes his debut as a director with the stunning new video for The Dead Weather’s ‘I Cut Like A Buffalo’.
Filmed entirely at Third Man Records in Nashville, this edgy video features a cameo by BP Fallon.

We’re posting this from bosanovasweetshop because we love it. Well, apart from the bit about John Bonham, bless him.
“BP Fallon was a legend in Irish radio and media circles back in my school days. I used to listen to his Saturday night radio show religiously, where he would do very well-informed one hour documentaries on all of the greats – Otis Redding, Janis Joplin, Sam Cooke are the ones that stand out for me. I would tape them and re-listen for hours on end…”
Iggy Pop flew in from Miami to promote the excellent book ‘The Stooges: The Authorized And Illustrated Story’ by Robert Matheu.

In fine form, The Big Ig held forth at Barnes & Noble in Tribecca on every subject from the blues to drugs to guitarist James Williamson rejoining The Stooges following the sad death of original Stooges axeman Ron Asheton. Williams was lead twanger on the ‘Raw Power’ and ‘Metallic KO’ albums where Ron played bass and his brother Scott played drums.
“We’ve unfinished business” an excited Iggy announced, revealing that Pop/Williamson songs like ‘Cock In My Pocket’, ‘Tight Pants’ and ‘I Got A Right’ – all floating around on various semi-official bootlegs – will finally be recorded properly.
“We’ve waited long enough” Iggy remarked to loud applause…

We are shocked and saddened by the sudden death of Stephen Gately in Majorca at the too-young age of 33.
Boyzone were hardly musical pioneers but in his own quiet unplanned way Stephen was a gay rights hero.
BP Fallon has published two books on Boyzone: ‘Boyzone Go East!’ – detailing in BP’s words and photography the mania of the band on tour in South East Asia, the Middle East and India – and the Greatest Hits tie-in ‘Boyzone By Request’.
“I did the books for the fun of it” says BP. “The guys in the band are good people and also know how to have a laugh. And I’ve always been very fond of Louis [Walsh, Boyzone's manager].
“Stephen was a sweetheart, a lovely man. My thoughts go out to his partner Andrew and to the band and to Louis and to Stephen’s family. It’s very very sad”.
